I have a particularly soft spot in my heart for
American Junk
my first junk book published in 1994. It crosses over all kinds of
junk collections from cowboy and western to glass acts, all-that-glitters-is-not-gold
kind of treasures, fishy stuff, kitchen junk, animal and pet kitsch,
toys and favorite things from our childhood, thrift store paintings,
crazy lamps, shell treasures, heavy metal and a million wacky chairs.
It's the junker's primer on how to haggle over, rescue and transform
America's forgotten treasures. It's a fleet-footed journey through
flea markets, tag sales, trash heaps, thrift shops, auctions and attics.
It's finding something you can't live without to create a one-of-a-kind,
(absolutely YOU!) look for your house, apartment, getaway, kitchen,
bedroom--Home!
American Junk (1994, Viking Studio Books,
239 pages), is no longer in print. It's a collector's item! You
can search for it in your favorite second hand bookstore, do an
online search, or order it direct from me. If you order it from
me I will personally inscribe it, plus send you a free "I Brake
for Junk" bumper sticker.
